Fossil coral, also known as "agatized coral" or "agatized fossil coral," is not technically coral, but rather agate - a type of naturally occurring chalcedony. This means it should not be confused with endangered or protected reef coral or precious coral. Additionally, fossil coral is typically much harder than precious coral and boasts unique skeletal-like patterns in flower shapes, giving it a dull to waxy luster.
According to old civilizations, these precious fossils are capable of carrying divine protection within them and ward off malevolent entities. It's believed that these corals contain the holy essence of long-gone creatures.
